Our Programs

  • Recreation

Looking for a fun workout, a friendly community, or a nudge to get outside in the beautiful PNW? Wakinikona paddles recreationally year round out of our beach on Lake Union. We welcome paddlers of all skill levels, from those who have never been in an outrigger canoe before to those who have crossed Ka’iwi Channel more times than they can count.

Club paddles are available for use for beginner paddlers.

  • Race

Wakinikona competes in PNW-ORCA for sprint, distance, and small vessel races. Paddlers can compete in one or several races throughout the season. Coaches form crews based on many factors, including paddler skill, commitment, and crew blend. If you’re interested in racing, be sure to come sign up on Team Cowboy and come to practices.

Please note, racers have additional club dues.

  • Keiki

One of the most important missions of our club charter is to perpetuate the Hawaiian Culture, and in many ways we do that through the teaching of our keiki (children). Passing on Hawaiian wisdom & culture to our youngsters through the sport of outrigger paddling teaches them responsibility, teamwork, and skill.

Grades 5 through high school are welcome to participate in the keiki program.
